The days may be shorter but it is great to get out for a few hours for a walk or drive in the lovely countryside. The leaves may be off the trees but the views at this time of year are brilliant and if you are lucky you may catch a light frost that makes everything look magical. Then you can return to settle down in the warmth of he cosy barns. Check out the Availability and Booking for the latest prices.
Decided it was time to give the outside of the barns a bit of a face lift. We have replaced all the barn doors, all the exterior has been repainted, new furniture outside and new parasols t shade that lovely sun that we are still getting. A big thank you to all the skilled trade people that have done the work and to Janet and Louise for making sure they were all nice and clean and ready for today’s guests. Really pleased with the outcome, the paint is a few shades lighter but think it suits the barns.
Due to a health issue one of our soon to arrive guests has had to cancel so Tom’s Barn is available for a sneaky Autumn break.Bank holiday week is available and what better than to spend in the lovely surrounding countryside village of Parwich. If previous years are to go by the weather should still be warm and if it does go chilly the log burner will keep you toasty warm.
Ever since we moved here we have wanted a dog, the farm just calls out for one. We have lots of guests that bring their dogs and each time we said we need to get on of our own. Well here she is Sunshine Honeybeam otherwise known as Izzy. She is a wired haired Vizsla and like a lot of people we had not heard of the bread until we were watching Country file one week and Adam Henson was on with his two lovely dogs. The internet being a good source of information soon identified the breed. Finding a puppy of course didn’t prove that easy. Izzy is one of a litter of 5 and is just 8 weeks old. She is proving to be quite a character and loves people. She was born into a household with 3 other dogs so is already been socialised. Once she can go out it is off to puppy training classes. Can’t have well behaved dogs of the guests showing her up. The other good thing is that for those guests that do not have a dog there is one available to be borrowed. One guest did put in the comments book that the only thing missing here was a dog to loan if you didn’t have one of your own. Hope that lots of guests come back to meet her.
It may be cold outside but it is a great time to visit Parwich. We have had some lovely frosts and the cosy barns are a great place to come back to after a nice stroll around the Peak District. Douglas’s Barn has an electric fire to give instant heat, not that you should need it with the central heating, and Tom’s Barn has a lovely log burner to toast your toes by. Dates are filling up but still plenty to go for. Short break are available all year. Just give us a call if you can’t find what you are looking for.
Happy New Year to you all. We are about to celebrate the start of our 3rd year as the owners of Orchard Farm and Tom’s and Douglas’s Barns. We are still loving every minute of it and really enjoying all the lovely people and dogs that come to stay in the Barns. This year by we are changing our policy on short breaks. Previously these were limited between October and Easter but people’s lifestyles seem to be changing with more short breaks being taken. In response to this we have decided to offer short break throughout the year. Hopefully this will still allow those that want a longer break to be able to book them. If you can not find what you want available on the calendar or you are looking to book in on a different day or need a shorter break than usual please give us a call to discuss.
The Parwich Church, Hall & Legion are holding there Christmas Fayre on Sunday 4th December. The fayre will be opened by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Denise Brown at 3pm. The church is open 3 – 5pm, the Hall and Legion 4-6pm. The Chameleon Choral Coir will perform in the Hall and the Legion and there will be lots of stalls with gifts decorations, cards, wreaths, homemade food raffles and homemade crafts and much more. A BBq is planned and there will be mulled wine in the church. To support the fayre we have put a decorated Christmas Tree from Orchard Farm and Tom and Douglas’s guests.
Due to unforeseen circumstances Tom’s Barn is now available 24 June to 1 July 2016.

Time to get a bit of relaxation before the Christmas mayhem. There are still short breaks available in Douglas’s Barn. Plenty going on in the Peak District. Lots of events to go to in and around Parwich today but managed to get to the Horticultural Show in Parwich and the Hartington Show. Missed out on the Antiques in Ashbourne though which is always worth going to. Izzy did better than me by getting 1st prize as the Prettiest Bitch at Hartington Show […]
