We were slightly surprised, if not dismayed, to return from our latest London jaunt to a telephone call suggesting our next inspection date might be five days hence (last Friday). We had our last annual inspection in February this year.
With Christmas cards, work on the website, not to mention actual Christmas preparations all looming, we agreed, on the principle that it would never be a good time so we might as well get it over and done with!
All I can say is a sincere “sorry”. Every night day I have vowed I’d squeeze in a post, and by midnight, there never seems to have been a moment. The silly thing is, I love the blog, it is a pleasure, not a chore to be put off.
Now, we are just plain busy, but until this week our time has been filled with some indulgent family and friends pleasure, some elements of which may appear in rather retrospective blogs during the ‘festive season’ (how I dislike that expression but it’s better than the horribly PC ‘winter holiday’).
Yesterday we had six bookings for 2014. The day before we had none, and – so far – today there have been none, but we do expect an increasing flurry before the end of the year as everyone tries to book their holiday at this year’s prices, and very keen also to ensure they can get the dates they want. The saving is not that dramatic, but it’s enough to make it worth your while, added to the fact that there is nothing more encouraging than knowing one has something lovely to look forward to.
Time to get a bit of relaxation before the Christmas mayhem. There are still short breaks available in Douglas’s Barn. Plenty going on in the Peak District.
