Facelift for our barns

We really try hard to keep our looks, as far as the barns are concerned. (The humans are much more relaxed, or perhaps merely fatalistic.)

Every year Jason and Stuart touch up the paintwork in the barns, usually doing the kitchens and bathrooms, sometimes a ceiling or transforming some of the pine woodwork – whatever needs doing. Every four of five years is the big do and we have kept the second week/midweek period in February free for the 2010 ‘facelift’.

Don’t expect dramatic changes in colour schemes: Douglas’s Barn we will probably use the same colours as we rather like them; in Tom’s Barn we are thinking of changing at least the kitchen units (again) as we feel the Hay we used last time wasn’t as effective as we’d hoped; we may also choose a subtle variation on the wall colour…

All will be revealed on 12th February! (Just in time, unintentionally, for St Valentine’s weekend/week!)

  1. Old White and Slipper Satin is a clue to the new look for Tom’s Barn – we are delighted with it so hope everyone else will agree when all is revealed.

    • As always Tom’s Barn was impeccable when we arrived. The colours are lovely and work well with the wood in the kitchen and bathroom. The decorators do a superb job and so do Marion, John, and Janet in getting the barn ship shape again in such a sort period of time.

      Thank you

      • Thank you, Jayne! We will pass on your comments to Jason and Stuart, our decorators, who worked solidly throughout the week to get everything painted. They are seriously good at their job, so much so that they are getting asked to do jobs in London and further afield which is fantastic for them but means their loyal local clients have to be really organised and book them well ahead.
We’ll also tell Janet what you say (she is not a computer person but in every other way fantastic!). It is quite a relief to have everything back to normal – glad you like the new colours. We agree that they look good, and better than last year’s (although to be fair that wasn’t a complete disaster!).
