Welcome 2024 and welcome Ollie

Wishing all our past present and future guests a very Happy New Year.

Following the sad passing of Barni in June we made a decision to have another dog to keep Izzy company. We were hoping to rehome a Vizsla but there were none suitable. Izzy’s sister was in pup and we were lucky enough to get a boy puppy, Ollie, who is a half brother to Barni.
He has a different personality to Barni who was quite a character. Hopefully Ollie will be a bit more chilled out.

The barns continued to have a great group of guests in last year which makes running them so enjoyable. We are so lucky to be able to share our home with such lovely people.

We are looking forward to the New Year and the challenges it brings

.

Open Gardens at Orchard Farm

Its open gardens again tomorrow at Orchard Farm. The lovely hot sunny weather has been great for us but the gardens have really suffered. Lots of rain in the last few days have saved the day and everything is looking lovely for Parwich Open Gardens tomorrow. Rambling Rector is again in full bloom!
Lots of gardens are open in the village, including Orchard Farm, hopefully the sun will shine, the rain clouds won’t make an appearance until later on and we have lots of visitors to our beautiful Peak District village.

Welcome back

We are fully open and welcoming lots of guests. Great to see people here and share our home and lovely countryside. Looking forward to hospitality opening up more for Monday 17 May 2021. The village pub The Sycamore and The British Legion will be able to welcome guests inside which is good when the sun goes in. They have all done well to provide a service in outside facilities since April as have most of those great cafes and pubs that we all love across the Peak District. A lot of facilities have made adaptions that I have to say enhanced the facilities that they already provided. Hassop Station has made great changes to their facilities which has made their offerings even more attractive. There are a couple of dates 24 – 29 May and the 5 – 11 June which have become available in Douglas Barn. Other dates are still available in both Barns for the following months. Hope to see you here soon.

WE’RE GOOD TO GO

Following the government announcement on Tuesday we are all ready to re open. Risk assessments have been completed, strict cleaning procedures have been put in place and we have received the Visit Britain We’re Good To Go certification. This is awarded to businesses that have successfully applied for the We’re Good to Go Industry Standard.
The barns will look a little different from usual. Safety measures have required businesses to remove items which cannot be easily cleaned such as books, maps, information etc. Strict cleaning protocols will be in place. Guests will be asked to do their bit to keep others safe such as stripping their own beds, filling the dishwasher and opening all the windows before they leave.
Following guidelines will be essential to keep everyone safe and enjoy their stay with us.
The attractions that our guests love to visit are gradually opening and so are the cafes and bars. Yes of course there are restrictions but everyone is working very hard to make the visitor experience to the Peak District

as good as it can be in these strange times

When are we re opening?

Just giving everyone an update on the latest information about when we may be able to welcome guests back to Tom and Douglas Barns.

Following the announcements by the Prime Minister on Sunday evening the Government has published a recovery roadmap, The document states that the 4 July 2020 is the  potential re opening date for the hospitality sector. This includes accommodation and attractions.

We are continuing to work hard with Business Peak District and VisitBritain on the proposals for recovery. We are awaiting guidance on what will be required and a kitemark being developed to reassure visitors of cleanliness and responsible practices.

Business Peak District is also working closely with shops and attractions to put in place adjustments that will help them being able to open.

Car parks have already opened but the facilities at car parks will not all be open.

As soon as we have any further update we will share it with you.

Stay Safe

Ange and Robert Roebuck

The sun is still shining ,hope all is well where you are!

No news yet on when we may be able to re open. The measures being taken seem to be working so keeping fingers crossed that we are going to manage to meet this awful virus and be able to resume some sort of normality. Think it will be a long to time before leisure and hospitality will be able to open their doors but when they do we will be ready and waiting. Here at Orchard Farm we are keeping the barns clean and well aired and the gardens are getting as much attention as ever so we will be able to share some photos of those as we move through the seasons. It is really quite in Parwich with no visitors but fortunately we are a close knit community that are supporting each other through it. Lets hope the local businesses are able to survive ready for the visitors when they are able to return. The pub is keeping going expanding the range of supplies in the shop. They are providing a take away food service which is very welcome and the Royal British Legion is supplying beer if you take your own container.

We hope that you are all ok where you are and that you have the support you need to get you through this. We will get there and come out of it a lot stronger than we went into it. Just look at Captain Tom. His attitude to this has been so encouraging, he has seen war and all sorts of things which has given him the strength and determination to achieve.

The sun is still shining here in Parwich. Stay Safe and hope to see you soon.

Time to book a last minute Autumn break.

So the sun may not be shining at the moment but we are going into one of my favorite times of year – AUTUMN. If the weather follows previous years we are in for a lovely September and October and even November can still be delightful. This time of year attracts reduced rate for some weeks as it is not always the most popular time to away – not sure why as I could do a few days away at any time. The bonus of visiting in the Autumn is it can be quite and makes travelling around to beauty spots in the Peak District more enjoyable. Check out the prices for this time of year and treat yourselves to a few days, or even a week, in one of the lovely, cosy, romantic holiday barns. keep a look out for last minute deals or give us a call if you can’t find available dates to suit your requirements. Hoping to see as many people as we can for a lovely Autumn in Parwich, Derbyshire.

Time to plan you autumn visit

Summer may be coming to an end so you need to start planning a nice autumn break. There are vacancies in October and November and the prices are cheaper from the end of September. If you want a specific break that doesn’t appear to be available on the web site please give me a call. We are very flexible about number of days stay and also the days you can book in and book out. 5% discount for returning guests make it even more attractive.

Privacy and Cookie Policy updates

We have been having the most glorious May. The gardens are looking splendid and we have had lots of guests enjoying the lovely Peak District. We have had to turn our attention, as lots of others have, to become compliant with new laws.

We are sure that you are all aware that the new GDPR laws came into effect on May 2018. We have updated our Privacy and Cookie Policy together with our Terms and Conditions. We take security and privacy seriously and have updated our policies to reflect all the new legislation. The policies can be viewed by clicking on the Policy link at the bottom of any of the pages on this website. Do get in touch with us if you have any questions.

Spring Blossom has arrived

It may still be a bit chilly but the blossom is out at Orchard Farm. Looking forward to some nice warm weather for our guests to enjoy. Lots of bookings already for May, June and July but still a few gaps just waiting to be filled. Hoping to see new and returning guests to Tom and Douglas Barns this year.
