What you won’t find at Tom’s Barn & Douglas’s Barn

• Traffic noise
• Trains – the nearest stations (Derby and Chesterfield) are 20 miles away
• Frequent bus service (a few buses daily, mainly to Ashbourne)
• Gas – Our heating is by oil – plus logs in Tom’s Barn; cooking etc by electricity
• Ashtrays – although you can smoke outside
• Deep fat fryer
• A wild nightlife
• Pizza/takeaways etc – but Ashbourne 7 miles away is easily reached if necessary
• Children – there might be local ones playing in the distance occasionally
• Lavish drapes and fancy swags
• Under-floor heating (so the tiles downstairs might be cool for bare feet in winter)
• Slippers – we do supply toweling bathrobes for your use but not slippers
• Notices everywhere telling you what you can and can’t do
• Hidden extras and nasty last-minute surprise bills
• A cold dark cottage with keys left under the mat for your arrival
