We had the outside woodwork of the barns repainted in October 2007. Even so, from the outside Tom’s Barn and Douglas’s Barn don’t seem to have changed very much, since their more modest beginnings, but, step inside… Be prepared for a pleasant surprise!
We spend ages thinking about how we would like the barns to be and how we can keep improving them. Our main aim throughout is simply to make each barn the sort of place we would hope to be lucky enough to stay in ourselves (and we are quite choosy). We want everybody to feel totally relaxed and comfortable: to have the best possible time staying in our barns and go home, and back to the real world, feeling totally restored and refreshed.
You will find awaiting your arrival - apart from the welcoming tea tray and fresh flowers - a loaf of bread, a pint of milk, some butter and half a dozen freshly laid local farm eggs, flour, sugar rice etc and some herbs and spices. In the summer months you'll find a jug of fresh herbs from our garden in the kitchen. You should also find everything else, within reason, that you might possibly need (see Tom's Barn & Douglas's Barn pages for more detail). There are books to read, some DVD's and CD's, maps, walk books and some well-worn games.
All you should need to bring is your personal belongings and anything particular you may want to eat and drink. Now that we have a shop again (see news flash on the left) you will be able to top up on any necessities there. |
Comments from our guests in 2007 and 2008"For once Five Stars lives up to the expectation!"
"...quite simply the best self-catering accommodation we have found.'
Thanks for all the extras – truly a 5* experience."
Award yourselves another star!' |
