I am speechless!

This place is heaven and I genuinely found it hard to part with this beautiful cottage. Thank you for all of the perfect small touches like eggs, fresh bread and the birthday banners, balloons plus a Christmas tree to seal the deal. I will miss this cottage and thank you for leaving a great memory that I shall take away with me and treasure for ever. Love from Mr & Mrs Hyde. 2 – $ December 2017

Parwich is lovely

We have had a lovely time here this week and have enjoyed some great days out in Bakewell, Chatsworth and along the Tisington Trail. The village of Parwich is beautiful and somewhere we would love to come back to in the future. The cottage has been perfect for all our needs and w have enjoyed cooking and eating our meals with a view! Orla has loved her visit and new surroundings especially spotting the sheep and many friendly dogs on our way to the village park. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Rachel, Matt and Orla, April 2017

A lovely stay in Douglas’s Barn

We’ve had a wonderful stay here. Douglas’s Barn and its location is perfect in every way! It’s an ideal base for exploring the area, whether walking, cycling or driving. Our long weekend has been wonderful (despite having typical British weather). We plan on coming back when its a it warmer. Liz and Mick

One of the best equipped properties

Angela and Robert made us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. We borrowed the bikes and did the Tissington Trail. Ilam and Dovedale were lovely as were the Derwent Reservoirs. Great walking. Angela and Robert invited us to join the Sunday walk with Derby and South Derbyshire Ramblers. A great walk around Parwich, Bradbourne and Tissington ending with tea and cake back at Orchard Farm. We met some interesting people. We would love to come back again some time, we’ve enjoyed ourselves so much Lesley and Bob from Cornwall May 2017

A lovely holiday

Perfect welcome, lovely barn, 10/10. 5*. Dovedale beautiful, Bakewell the best town, ideally placed for walking. Look for the kestrels on the telegraph wires on the walk from here to Tissington, buzzards also – lovely holiday. P&P September 2015

Another visit to the barns!

We looked back through the guest book and found we have been coming here to Tom’s or Douglas’s Barn for 6 years! The haven’t changed really and that is a very good thing. Once again a relaxing, perfect visit that we don’t want to end. J&P Oct 2015

Sometimes it rained….

Sometimes it rained and sometimes it didn’t!. Who cares we have had a very relaxing few days – no matter how hard we tried we didn’t make it out of the cottage until midday. It’s such a cosy, country cottage and so hard to leave. We have had great walks in Dovedale, Monsal Head and dale and a trip to Chatsworth. Thanks for the fizzy in the fridge, we celebrated again the special birthday. So off back to the madness of Brighton (which we love). We go with Autumn leaves in our hair and much on our shoes J&J Oct 2015

A great place to get engaged

This has been one of the most amazing weekends of our lives and a massive part is due to Douglas’s Barn & Angela. We received the warmest of welcomes (with beautiful cake) followed by a very special couple of days. The barn is peaceful and idyllic and we will never forget the time we spent there. Thank you for everything, we couldn’t think of a better place to get engaged!! p.s we are planning our next visit. A&Z August 2015

Our first but hopefully not last visit

This was our first visit to Tom’s Barn and we were not disappointed! What a gorgeous place to stay. Lovely accommodation with fantastic walks and all the little touches made it a simply wonderful little break. Thank you so much for accommodating us at short notice it was very much appreciated. We hope to come back. J, S and Rusty

Our first anniversary

What an amazing place to spend our first anniversary in. Kitted out amazingly and decorated beautifully. Thanks to Janet for the warm welcome and also for the supplies. So nice to not worry about milk, bread and butter. The marmalade was delicious. The walks and the countryside have been outstanding and the next time we come we will have more than a weekend. Thanks again M&T May 2015

  • Time to give the barns a coat of paint

The barns will be closed for the next 2 weeks for redecorating and dealing with all those little jobs that you never get around to doing. This year it is a full repaint so we will be busy moving everything around and giving all the cupboards etc a thorough bottoming. It also gives time to […]

  • What a great place to spend Christmas!

There is still time to book a last minute Christmas get away in Douglas’s Barn. The weather may be cold but the barn is very warm and cosy. Why not treat yourselves to a get away from it all break. You can order all your supplies from one of the supermarkets, get it delivered and […]

  • Time for a short pre Christmas break

Time to get a bit of relaxation before the Christmas mayhem. There are still short breaks available in Douglas’s Barn. Plenty going on in the Peak District. Lots of Christmas markets selling lovely gifts that you don’t see elsewhere. Chatsworth House is also a must at this time of year. There are plenty of stories […]
