Tom’s Barn & Douglas’s Barn – Enjoy the Peak District

Enjoy our wonderful Peak District countryside

In the very centre of England lies the Peak District, and in its very heart lies the Peak National Park. Britain’s frst national park was created 60 years ago to safeguard and preserve this beautiful region for future generations and for its locals and visitors to enjoy now.

Parwich is a lovely traditional self-contained White Peak limestone village in the very beautiful, gentler southern part. You will find everybody very friendly and welcoming and whether you’re exploring, sightseeing, enjoying activities in the great outdoors or simply relaxing and enjoying the beautiful Peak District countryside you’ll be taking home wonderful memories of a very special area.

As well as the many local farmers’ markets, which sell a huge range of high quality local produce, including award-winning ice-cream, cheeses, meat and fresh produce, the area has its fair share of world-renowned products such as Bakewell Pudding, Ashbourne Gingerbread and Buxton Mineral Water – enough to give you a real flavour of the Peak District! Food lovers with an eye for the finest local produce should look out for pubs, cafés, hotels and restaurants displaying the Peak Cuisine symbol, which signifies that their menu carries at least one dish whose main ingredient is sourced locally. We will also supply our guests with a constantly updated list of local pubs, restaurants, butchers and shops of a very high standard.

Whether you want to explore on foot, on bike or by car, you will find lots of leaflets and maps in the barns, and walk books. You will find the netboook we provide in each barn is already programmed with links to numerous useful walking sites and many other local activities. You will find an interesting book of walks actually in and around Parwich. The trails leaflets are a great way to discover the secret stories and backgrounds to the towns, villages and countryside of the Peak District – they make an ideal starting point for a short stroll, a big day out or as part of a serious walking holiday.

In each barn you will find a large scale Ordnance Survey map, centred on Parwich. You will find this makes it easy to plan what you would like to see and do locally within easy reach of where you are.
There is so much to do – have fun!
